Corcoran Prison Releases

California State Prison, Corcoran is operated by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Its release records are state prison records. The Kings County Sheriff's current-inmate locator is not the release-confirmation source for CSP-Corcoran unless the person later has a separate county jail booking. A person leaving CSP-Corcoran may move to parole supervision, discharge a sentence, transfer to another CDCR location, or have a BPH-related release process depending on the sentence.

Start with CDCR's California Incarcerated Records & Information Search. CIRIS public descriptions identify fields such as name, CDCR number, age, current location, commitment counties, admission date, and BPH hearing dates or outcomes for people currently in CDCR custody. If the person is still listed at CSP-Corcoran, that is current state custody information. If the person is not visible in current custody, use CDCR records channels, BPH schedules or results when applicable, DAPO parole contacts, and the committing court record.

Confirm CSP-Corcoran Release

Confirmation works best when the CDCR number is known. The CDCR number follows the state-prison record and avoids many name-match problems. If no number is available, search by name and compare age, location, commitment county, court case facts, and any BPH hearing data before relying on the match.

1. Search CDCR CIRIS by CDCR number or name.
2. Read the current location, commitment counties, admission date, and any BPH fields.
3. If CSP-Corcoran appears as current location, the person remains in CDCR custody according to that public result.
4. If no current-custody result appears, compare the court case, CDCR records information, DAPO parole route, and BPH hearing outcomes where relevant.
5. For resentencing or amended judgment issues, use CDCR Case Records processing information and the court record instead of estimating a release date.

The CDCR page confirms the facility identity and contact path. Release status still depends on the correct CDCR, parole, BPH, and court records.

Corcoran Commitment County

CSP-Corcoran creates a common Kings County search error. A person can be held at a prison in Corcoran even though the conviction came from another California county. A person committed from Kings County can also be held somewhere else. The commitment county is the court origin for the prison term. The release destination is where the person goes after release or parole placement. Neither one is automatically the same as the facility location.

This distinction is especially important for Kings County because it contains three CDCR adult prisons. The Kings County released inmates page covers the jail path for local bookings, but CSP-Corcoran releases stay in the CDCR record lane unless a later jail booking appears.

CSP-Corcoran Records Contact

The facility contact is useful for routing, but the release record may be held in CDCR systems or connected to court and parole files. CDCR Case Records processes Abstracts of Judgment and minute orders and must complete legal release tasks before release after resentencing or amended court action. If a release depends on a BPH decision, the BPH record and CDCR release processing both matter.

Corcoran BPH Records

BPH matters for CSP-Corcoran when the person's sentence includes parole-suitability review or another Board process. The Board conducts parole suitability proceedings and nonviolent offender parole reviews for incarcerated adults under CDCR jurisdiction. Some people released from CDCR do not have a BPH suitability hearing, so the absence of a BPH entry is not by itself a full release answer.

The BPH hearing schedule lists date, time, location, and whether proceedings are in person or by video. The BPH results page posts outcomes of recent scheduled parole-suitability proceedings by week. A hearing outcome may be a grant, denial, postponement, waiver, cancellation, or another Board action depending on the case. A grant can still require review and release processing.

BPH

The Board of Parole Hearings, which handles specified parole-suitability and review proceedings.

DAPO

CDCR's Division of Adult Parole Operations, the state parole supervision agency.

Discharge

The end of a custody or supervision term in the relevant state system.

Detainer

A hold or notice from another agency that can affect release timing or destination.

Corcoran Parole Follow-Up

After a CSP-Corcoran release, parole supervision is a DAPO issue when parole applies. DAPO is statewide and organized by regions and parole units. That does not prove every CSP-Corcoran release reports there, but it shows the regional nature of state parole in the Kings County area.

Parole county can differ from the prison's county. A person may leave CSP-Corcoran and report to a parole unit closer to the approved release destination. If the sentence discharged with no parole, DAPO may not be the active source. If the person was released to probation on a local case, the court and probation record may matter, but that is a different path from state parole.

Corcoran Prison Distinctions

CSP-Corcoran is one of two CDCR facilities in Corcoran named in the facility map. The other is Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison, Corcoran, also called SATF-CSP. They are separate state prison facilities. A person released from SATF-CSP should not be folded into CSP-Corcoran records just because both facilities are in Corcoran.

CSP-Corcoran Case Records

Release timing can be affected by CDCR Case Records processing. CDCR's release and resentencing information explains that Case Records professionals process court documents such as Abstracts of Judgment and minute orders and complete required legal tasks before release. For CSP-Corcoran, that means a court order, resentencing event, or amended minute order may not be identical to the actual release date.

For a record request or verification call, use precise state-prison terms. Ask for the CDCR number, last or current facility, commitment county, admission date, release or discharge status if available, parole status if applicable, and BPH hearing or outcome references if the person had a Board matter. If the case began in Kings County, compare CDCR information with the Kings County Superior Court case. If another county committed the person, use that court for the judgment record.

Note: A person missing from the county jail roster has not necessarily been released from CSP-Corcoran. The jail roster is the wrong source for state-prison custody.
